You might want to start with a dual boot... just in case the beta doesn't work out so well.

Well, there really isn't any dual-boot host software out there as of now, so that's really not an option :( You could make a partition, however. It would be a big help to MB Pro owners as well (if it existed), as they would then be able to run XP on their notebook. However, getting back on topic. I do not recommend placing any "Beta" versions of an OS onto your computer, as they have not proven themselves yet and could be unstable, leading to many complications. Just stick to XP is my recommendation, as it's a pretty "proven" OS, unless you can get your hands on Beta. Then all you have to do is make a partition on your HD to make it run.

Then again, every MS OS is a Beta until after three service packs or so...

True, but the beta version before the actual OS is released to the public? Quite risky if you ask me (as you said the original OS itself is a beta version, so imagine a beta version of that!).

Some stuff like Photoshop would not install on my machine. If you are going to do it, maybe wait for Beta 2 which should be closer to the real deal.

I have Beta 1. I use XP, but did try it out. I don't have any inside info. The speculation is this month or next, but it gets here when it get here.

Up until last year I was still running some XP beta version build 2700 or sthg lol. I never had any problems really.

However I tried Vista beta 1 last week but didn't have much luck. I couldn't get the video driver working so I just had to fall back to XP for now.

Back then Win2000 to XP was a relatively small upgrade I believe so many things just works on XP. I'm not sure if that's the case for XP to Vista?

Yeah Vista Beta 1 is screwed.
Beta 2 on the other hand is pretty reliable. Though I still say you stick with XP.

just partition the hd and install it on the second partiton (the install wizard asks you where it is to be installed), when its installed when ever you turn on your computer it will ask you what os you want to boot.
this is what i have done with mine.
