    HI,
I bought a new HP Pavilion laptop (DV6735), it comes with 160GB HDD, and its HP_Recovery size is 11 GB (2.23 GB free). I haven't yet created Recovery Disks (on DVDs).
I've an external HDD of 320 GB, My question is:
If I copy all the data of HP_Recovery Drive to my external 320G HDD, and in future If I need to restore my laptop to a factory settings then can I use Recovery data on my external HDD?

I also have another questions, I know, after recovery everything will be lost. So, is it good idea to keep use HP_Recovery or to make C Drive's image using any famous HDD imaging application in case of system instability.

    Thanks in advance.

Burn the Recovery DVDs, Setup Windows as you like it (along with your programs), use a "famous" drive imaging tool like True Image to make an image, delete the recovery partition, and expand the remaining partition.

I agree with deputy, it's probably better to backup to optical media whenever possible. But he beat me to it. :p
