Hi, I remebe seeing some menu in VISTA with the option of disable or enable the option for "close network connection" while the notebook is closed (i don't know if it was refering to sleep mode, or closed lid)

I don't remember how i got to that menu, can anyone direct me?

I haven't encountered that option, but there is one similar to it in Control Panel (Power Management) and you can allow the computer to disable it to save power through Device Manager.

to manually disable the netword adapter in the device manager? without relation to any event (like sleep mode)? sorry but that would be pretty useless... thanks for trying though

    No, you don't understand.
I hate it when people never even bother to try and see what's what.
The computer can disable it to save power when it's not needed (ex: no traffic is being made). It will not disable it when you need it.
Also check Control Panel's Power Management application.

You're welcome. You will probably not feel a big difference, but the options are there.
