problem installing xp after vista

ok ive done this before, but i forgot how.
i installed xp after vista, and now it does not go to the boot manager. it goes straight to xp.
i tried easybdc and vistabootloader pro.
also when i tried the vista dvd it only says install and transfer files from another computer. it does not say repair anywhere. help!

 

Install now > Repair your computer > Select the Vista installation > Startup repair

I have done it both ways several times with no problems using this guide.

 

thanks so much, i have read that several times, the one thing i always overlooked was that you had to "boot from the vista dvd" not load it up when in windows xp. thanks man!

 

Sorry to bring back this thread, but I`ve read the link Vicious posted and the thing is that my Vista DVD is OEM, and I don`t see any Repair option anywhere...
And right now I can`t dual boot Vista and XP.

I`ve dual booted Xp and Vista, but with XP installed first...the other way around seems I can`t .

Bootrec /fixmbr
Bootrec /fixboot
commands to not work either...

 

Hmm OEM should work like a full version I thought just that its tied to your PC.

Well I guess you can just pirate it, (joke joke)

 

Well,I`m blind or something, it only gives me the option of installing it.
I`ll double check,I am tired ,maybe I overlooked it.

Does that bring you into the recovery area so you can fix the boot manager?

Nope,only XP showing up.
I need to fix the boot sector so that VIsta will boot, then use that EasyABCD whatever thingamagig tool to make XP visible also.

The system requirements say it will run from XP as well as Vista, so maybe you can edit it all at once with that program?

After that I'm out of ideas. (I don't use Vista so I'm pretty useless here except as a google hunter .)

haven`t had the chance, been packing , I`m heading for the US tomorrow and I need the `puter working till I get there, so I didn`t take the chance.
I`ll get on it soon, it should work considering so many have done it.
