I need a little help. I admit to being completely illiterate but willing to learn and not completely stupid. I am transferring my old desktop files to my new inspiron notebook. XP to Vista Premium. I have tried to use Laplink PCmover with the incl. USB cable and I get all the way through the transfer process and it says USB port unavailable. So I try transferring with the network and again get all the way through the process and it says on the new notebook"waiting to transfer moving van" and on the old pc"connected-waiting for confirmation". That is as far as I get with Laplink. So after trying 5 or 6 times I go to Windows easy transfer. Get through that process and things start moving then after what seems like forever they just stop. I tried one more time and just tried to transfer pictures and music since that is all I want anyway, and I got a little farther before it just stops the transfer. I have turned off both firewalls and I don't have an external HD that I can try and can't really afford what I want right now so that option is out. Any ideas? I don't know if this matters but my old HD on the desktop is almost full and I tried to remove as much as I could but it may not have been enough. Thus the new notebook.
