I was wondering if there is a program out there that will enable on windows vista, the feature in mac notebooks where the screen dims after 30 seconds of inactivity when running on battery. i have a thinkpad and the lenovo power manager does come with this feature, but the minimum time u can set is 15 minutes.

do you mean dim, or turn off? have you checked the vista power options? you can change the plan settings for whatever plan you have active, and select a time for it to turn off the screen. You can set it as low as 1 minute.

Tough to find a 3rd party for it.

Windows 7 has this ability of "dim screen" added to the power option. Hopefully Vista users can get an update with this functionality?

    cheers ...

There is no point in dimming the screen when idling under battery. Turning OFF would save power.

I think it may just be an NVIDIA thing, but check this out. I've definitely seen that option with some drivers on my notebook (Dell with NVIDIA graphics).

    Cheers...
