This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     program to edit audio file information

    anyone know of a program that can edit mp3 file information (artist, song, year etc.) outside of the actual music player?

    Try MP3Tag (no guarantees, as I've never used it and don't know the author(s)), or do a search for ID3v2 editors, such as this google search I just did to find MP3Tag.

    Incidentally, ID3v2 is a widely-used metadata format specification used to include metadata, such as what you're after, in audio files. The official website of the organization that promulgated that standard is here: http://www.id3.org/

    So can XP but it's highly inefficient when programs like MusicBrainz or Tag & Rename pull album info from freedb or amazon and autotag it for you.
