    hi, on my notebook there was pre-installed asus data security manager. I only use thr context menu function of it (right click on file/folder and encrypt/decrypt). But i read it causes alot of bugs & problems. But is there any similiar program? I mainly just need the "right click -> encrypt/decrypt" function with password prompt ofc. I tried to code it myself but i´m not sure how to add this to the context menu and also i think it won´t be the fastest crypting methode.

    Any ideas? :)

    thx

    You could just add encrypt/decrypt to your right click menu.

    heres the FAQ from how-to-geeks that shows you how. you can do the reg hack yourself, or just dl the premade script and run it. it also comes with a script to uninstall the hack if you ever decide to get rid of it.

    Quick, easy, and it sounds like its what you are looking for. enjoy!

    the vista implemented encrypt/decrypt looks rly nice.. but i dont trust windows at all.. dont knwo anything which has more bugs than windows ;P

    is it fast and reliable? Easy to crack the pw?

    blowfish doesnt have an option to add it at context menu.. u always have to run a program where you choose your files/folder. atleast i didnt found smth to change :(

    Tools > Options... > Miscellaneous > Registry Setup: [x]Context Menu Extensions

    If you end up using Windows' EFS, make sure to RTFM and backup your private key/certificate (google "best practices efs" or similar and look for KB/Technet articles).

    You running Vista or a limited user account in XP? Registering a shell extension probably requires some sort of admin rights, so you could try running it elevated (Vista) or from an admin account (XP) when setting that option.
    If that doesn't work either I'm stumped since it works for me...

    i run vista with UAC disabled and as admin logged in.. do i maybe need a restart? i just clicked the context registriy option, didnt work -> uninstall

    @edit:
    inside the blowfish advanced window if i right click on a file , i get encrypt/decrypt.. but i dont want to run this all the time. just in the normal windows desktop explorer right click -> encrypt. like u do right click -> copy or right click -> move to ,...

    @edit2: found at google how it should look like.. well the tutorial showed exactly what i wanted.. but for me it isn´t in context menu :( why?
