    Hi all,

I'm planing on buying Windows 7 when it comes out later this year and was curious about installing a new OS on my laptop. I'm not very tech savy, so I hope you'll all bear with me. :)

When updating to windows 7, do I need to backup all of my data from vista, and reinstall of my programs? Or is there anyway to upgrade while keeping everything I've installed? I have so many programs, and various configurations that I'm dreading having to reinstall and setup all of my programs, again.

Also, would you all recommend simply doing a clean install? I've had vista for a while now, and a clean install of the OS might be in order?

What do you all think? Comments and suggestions would be very helpful!
