I was wondering if I did a direct upgrade from Vista (comes with the comp) to Windows 7 will I get the benefit of buying the upgrade version of Windows 7 instead of the whole version? Also, is there anyway to revert back to vista if you don't have the CD?
Lastly, say if I have MS Office on windows 7 RC1, will it be fairly easy to move that copy of MS office when I upgrade the OS? Fairly easy as in I don't have to call in to ask for activation key etc. Thanks!

With option (1) obviously you'd need Vista media to go back. With option (2) your Vista install would remain intact so you could delete W7 and move on. With option (3)...I dunno. It's entirely possible that the upgrade process might compartmentalize your old install and allow an "uninstall" of Windows 7, taking you back to Vista. I'm not sure if that's been made clear yet. Even it it would turn out to be possible, the whole "upgrade in place" method seems to be the worst way to install an OS. It's like painting over wallpaper. It's easy, but the results usually are lass than ideal.
But really, the telephone thing is all automated anyway. You just key in your product ID and it gives you an authorization number. You don't even need to speak with a human. Which is a good thing.

"Extremely Easy" applies if you own legit license keys for all of your software.
Everything you want to do, upgrade, downgrade, obtain real replacement media, starts with those legit license keys. -
Thanks!
I do own the legit keys.
By benefit I mean instead of buying the full version of Windows 7, I can just buy the upgrade version, which is cheaper.
