How can i get my default power plan, from starting up my computer, to be set to "high performance"
basically how do you choose which plan is active at startup in vista.
thanks guys

LOL! For me, I will choose High performance anytime and any place, even the start-up of course.
I even use 3rd party software to manipulate the FID and VID of the CPU performance. Forcing it to run MAXIMAL everytime and using LOWEST voltage/electricity.
Actually, you need some 3rd party software to do this.
Windows build-in Power Option in the Control Panel can only allow you to choose which CPU state you want to use. Basically, Balance, Power Saver and High Performance.
You need to see/read this THREAD. -
Check out Vista Battery Saver. Great utility.
@ DS - Doesn't your computer always start up with the last set power plan? And wasn't this what the OP was asking about?Though to the OP, yeah, check out the thread DS mentioned
Nice info there.

Of course, the Power Plan in the Power Option I choose is activated everytime. The start-up will be the same Power Plan obviously. -
Well, yeah - I agree.
Master - Just chose 'high performance' and unless you change it to something else (like balanced, for example, for whatever reason), your computer will always start with 'high performance'. -
thanks for the suggestions guys, but every time i restart my computer, no matter what its set to when i shut down, it starts up in "asus standard mode"
i have an asus g71gx, and i cant delete the "asus standard mode setting" with power options. do you think theres any third party (asus) software that is affecting this?
edit: i can delete it, I'll do that, restart, and see if it works. -
Yeah try doing that. This, I'm sure, is affected by some software settings.
Meanwhile, here in NBR, I also saw something called "power4gear" being used. Check it out, along with the one I mentioned before.
Let us know how it wentThanks.

Kindly find the software and destroy it. LOL.
Like Acer, it has 3rd Party Software called ePower Management. I have killed it. >.< -
hmm, i cant seem to find it, unless its built into the Turbogear (overclocking) program that asus included, which i wouldnt be surprised. Since i cant find an immediate way to get rid of it, i just went to advanced settings and set everything identical to the "high performance" power tab. Btw, does having your processor state at 100 percent minimum (how high performance has it set) hurt it in the long run?
quick question on power plans in vista...
