as I am shopping for dual bay enclsoures, I see that only few supports raid using hardware. There are so many dual bay that don't support raid and I am bit surprised.
is there a way to implement raid 1 using just software? is that up to par with an hardware implementation?
if I have to get a raid ready enclsoure, which of these two do you guys suggest?

I can get them for the same price so that's not an issue. Unless someone has a better suggestion. But there aren't many out there.

If you have xp pro or vista ultimate, enterprise, business, or home premium (i think), you can convert both exteranal drive into dynamic disk and set it as mirrored, raid1.

can you do that just by using vista? -

What do you mean by "do that just by using vista"?
-
I just meant that from what you said I understood that there is an application in vista that will allow me to set two external drives to work under raid 1.
is that correct? -

It's part of the operating system. You can do software RAID1 natively without any additional software.

Have a look at enclosures sold by addonics. Lota of good ideas there.
