Very rarely, my vista takes a couple minutes to shut down (normally it shuts down in matter of seconds). It usually happens when I install/update a couple drivers.

Can anyone explain why this is happening? thanks.

Most probably because Vista has not yet optimised the new apps to let go of the registry / unregister faster. I have the same on mine. But after 2, 3 reboots, everything works fine.
