    Hi Guys,
I want to put "My documents" in a separate partition.
How do I tell windows (XP) to set "my documents" there? (so other software will understand the change).
    Thanks.

    under what OS?
Have you tried right clicking on it, and selecting the Move option?
You can also go into the registry and change the location of the My Documents folder there (under Personal key)

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

you can move your existing documents to the partition via the move button under the location tab when you right click My Documents.

if you want to send your future documents there (change the location of My Documents), under the target tab change the target folder location to the desired location. once you do this, other software should understand the change as well.

Tweak UI automates the registry change needed. IIRC you can change the default location of lots of system files with it.
