i guess this is only slightly notebook related but i don't want to leave my notebook on the whole night to record a few hours of internet radio, rather i prefer to be recording a stream and watching a movie or something while i wait (and to make use of my dual core :D)

the problem is, i use reply radio right now and it rips the stream by recording the output from the sound card i think

that means if i wanted to watch a movie, the sound from that would also be recorded as well

i was wondering if therewas a way to record a streaming internet radio feed and use the soundcard for other stuff simultaneously

I use Total Recorder and the new version (6.??) allows you to choose which program to record from.
