    reformat a dual booted system that has xp and linux?

    ok so my dell 700m has windows xp and linux ubuntu on the same system. the thing is that i want to reformat the windows xp partition only, how do i do that? is it like a normal reformat? are there precautions that i should take?

    You would just format the xp partition like a normal format. Be sure to select that partition though.

    I believe XP will rewrite the bootloader, so you're going to have to set up the dual boot again.

    Depends what your computer boots into first.

    If it's GRUB, then you probably won't have to do anything.

    If it's the Windows bootloader, then you're going to have to edit the bcd to point to GRUB.
