does anyone know of a good sequence for doing this? either reinstalling windows or completely wiping the HDD of my laptop - or is it really straightforward? i'd love to be linked, as i couldn't find anything helpful at the moment (horrible internet connection and horrific font problem makes almost every page unreadable). thanks... ugh, terrible that it has come to this.

... i would like to save my firefox bookmarks and preferences as well, is there an easy way to do that so that i can back them up on my external hard drive (lifesaver) and put em back to how they were after the wipe?

is it recommendable to download all evt drivers and updates beforehand, or does that really matter? all firmware changes will stay the same, correct? is this a good time to update my bios? thanks for bearing with someone who has forgotten everything about re-formatting. ugh! re-optimizing windows vista.. what a nightmare that will be.

    For bookmark's backup, go to:
    Bookmark>Organize Bookmark
    File>Export

To restore, do import instead of export. Keep the backup as an .html files.

You can/should download the driver before hand, that way you know you have them all.

If you have a lot of extensions and settings, I would recommend you download the Firefox extension FEBE. It will do a complete backup of Firefox, including all your extensions you have and your Firefox profile.
