I might want to reinstall my OS in my Acer laptop. I know I have to back up all the stuff I don't want to lose before wiping out my hard drive and starting fresh.

Now my Acer has the restore discs to put the laptop back to the state that it was in when it was new so when I restore with those discs will it automatically partition my hard drive into 2 drives like before? Right now I have the HD as 1 big drive (60gig) and it is also NTFS, whereas before it was FAT32.

I want to keep it NTFS, and the 1 large drive. So is it straightforward when I put the restore discs into the DVD drive or are there things I have to do before wiping everything out?

Back up all your files, put the restore disc in your drive when the notebook is on, restart the notebook, it should start automatically, then follow the directions. No, reinstalling XP doesn't partition the drive. Just format the drive as 1 partition and NTFS. It's pretty straight forward to me, it kinda depends upon how much you know about computers.
