i currently have windows xp home edition on a 100 gb that has two partitions
one is 2 gb i think for hp quickplay software
the other is the remaining space for my reuglar windows xp but i have baout 20 gb available on this

id like to install either pro or media center onto this computer but i DO NOT want to reformat anything

is there a way to make a new partition with that remaining 20 gb and still keep my files and current os
    thank you

ps i can get whatever software is needed, im willing to spend what it takes if it works

if you install the new O/S in another location it will set up the dual boot for you.

Does anyone know of any (good) open source partitioning software?

Right now I have XP Pro on a 40 gig partition and Vista beta 2 on another 40 gig partition. I use XP as my main OS and am only looking at Vista, and thus haven't loaded any significant programs onto that partition.

What I would like to do is partition the Vista partition into two 20 gig partitions (did I say partition enough there?) and then load some Linux. Is there a better way to do this?
