hello, i posted this on the sony forum too since it involves sony pre-installed software so i hope noone minds.

except for the norton av, i've kept all the other software that came with the SZ. since i hear so many complain about this, does it mean that there are better ones out there? i mean i don't want to uninstall a function if i can't replace it with something better that can do the same things. I especially want to remove redundant software.

i'm thinking of replacing the following:
    Click to DVD
    DVgate Plus
    INtervideo Win DVD
    Picture Gear STudio
    Roxio : DigitalMedia Home
    SonicStage
    SonicStage Mastering Studio
    Windows Media Player
    Windows Movie Maker

also, some people recommended that I keep all
    adobe reader
    adobe premier standard and
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0
    because they do different things.

    does anyone have software suggestions?

hmm, will look into that. besides being faster, is it better in any other way? what takes up more space? i don't use it often, so i don't want it to take up too much but at the same time, i don't want to sacrifice essential features.

its a 1 meg download and it doesnt install. You just use the program without installing. Its awsome - i dont miss adobe one bit.

Also download CCleaner - it just removes junk files which slow down your computer.

From the program you listed they should be safe to remove, it seems like dvd playing / burning software which if you are going to replace with better versions then you shouldnt miss them. Keep the windows programs though, you dont have to use them but removing windows stuff is dodgy.

If you want suggestions for new programs to install then check out the thread at the top of the forum.
