    restoring vista to factory settings...not as easy as you think

    trying to restore factory setting . all restore points are useless and the dos command prompt resuti or whatever it is is not working . i was given a 3month old hp pavillkion dv6000 with all the bells and whistles (incl a keyboard that was punched twice haha)' bought a new one but anyway ..... i cant seem to figure out how to restore factory settings . in safe mode going to control panel and doing the backup restore it freezes . PLEASE HELLLLPPPPP!!!! HAHAHA im knowledgable in taking apart repairing and putting back together aspect just stuck on this one guys. Heres my system info direct from the "system" menu

    HP PAVILION dv6700 NOTEBOOK
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO CPU T5550 @1.83GHz
    3GB OF RAM
    32BIT OS

    I DO NOT HAVE AND DISKS FOR THIS IT WAS MY SIS-IN-LAWS AND WAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED IF NO ADVICE WORKS IM GUESSING A RESTORE DISK IS IN ORDER? i know this is asking alot on my first post but as of now its been a few days and im reaching out to anyone. thanks in advance

    it's very, very easy.

    Go find a set of restore discs.

    Absent that, you are stuck.

    Does the system still have the hidden recovery partition? If so you can boot thru that and install it back to factory settings - try F8 at boot-up or F10, (not sure which on HPs).
