i'm planning on opening my own computer shop. i just wanted to know if i can only buy one copy of windows (retail) and can install it on multiple computers
-
... but not using them all at the same time!
Cheapest way is to go with the OEM (system builder) version. Spare you troubles later on.
cheers ... -
NO you can’t. If you want a cheaper copy then buy system builders licenses. That is also single license. The other option is to buy a volume license /corporate edition, with that you can install multiple copies with one license, but that usually costs a lot more than a single license retail copy and I’m not sure where or how to buy that.

What do you mean?? i thought retail windows can be installed in multiple computers and can be use simultaneously
-
A normal retail copy has a single user license. That means only one user (one computer) can use that copy. If you want to install it on another computer you have to uninstall it from the first one.
Read the Microsoft End User License Agreement -
The retail version can be "transferred" (up) to certain multiple comps! Microsoft would go broke if this happens. Get the system builder, or get a corporate licence (this is REAL mulitple installations)!
as PhoenixFx stated, "one" at a time.
cheers ... -
looks like i need to shell out more $$$
-
what kind of license does this one have?? http://asianic.com.ph/product/ms-win-vista-home-b

Pass the cost of the OS to the customer, that is what most small scale system builders do. They normally advertise/sell without the OS, and charge extra for it . That way the customers can save some money if they already have an OS, and you can also reduce the total cost, because you don't have to factor in the cost of a volume license .

I'm not certain as I am not familiar with the currency. What does that convert to in USD?
If it comes in that plastic box, it is likely a retail license. -
around $250
-
