    Hi,

I've installed both vlc and media player classic on my computer, together with real alternative.

i've noticed that playback of rmvb files have been very choppy on my computer (acer 3820tg), even though the same rmvb file plays very smoothly on my 4 year old dell (core duo, xp home).

    can anyone assist me?

What program did you use on your older machine? Here's two options. Try KMPlayer, it plays rmvb smoothly for me. Or you can convert the rmvb files to mp4 or mkv using Handbrake.
