i found out that aol's AV is the same as kaspersky's, except its free. Does anyone know if you can run aol's version of it w/o actually running aol?

    yes you can http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp

its not quite as good as kasperskys its a stripped down version. have a search through google about it as a few people have mentioned that it s ad supported. though ive been using it since it came out and never recieved a single ad or email (well spam emails havent increased in number since installing it)

found this on castle cops about it

I wasn't aware that "AOL" and "antivirus" could be used in the same sentence without conflicts.

Dispose of that; get Avast! or AVG or something else.

Active Scan uses a cut-down version of Kaspersky AV. Kaspersky is much better than Avast and AVG. Although cut down, active scan isn't bad.
