The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    hey guys, I'm trying to change a read only text file but it won't le tme since its read only. When I uncheck the read only and apply it says I must be an administrator. I am the only account and I am the administrator on here (vista home premiuim). Any suggestions?

    You could use unlocker to see if anything is using it. Otherwise, i think you might be stuck in a river. =\

    you could try opening the text file,
    then copy and paste the contents into a new text file, and then edit it and save it with the same filename
