    screen saver wont trigger

    this is an odd one. my screen saver wont trigger. i have the delay set to ten minutes but after that i get no screen saver. whats the problem? :confused:

    Would you happen to have a Microsoft wireless keyboard or mouse ? Because there is a known compatibility issue and a Windows update to fix it.

    This happens on our pc running XP home, unless I minimize everything open so I can then see the desktop background the screensaver won't kick in and I don't have ms wireless keyboard or mouse.

    i am using a laptop and i got a wireless microsoft mouse for xmas if the helps.

    Just an off-shot question. Have you tested the screen saver within the display properties and making sure that it can run?

    the screen saver preview works but other than that it doesnt work.

    How about try to set the time to 1 min or something of idle, then keep an eye on it and see. Just want to eliminate that there is some processes in between that keeps the screen saver from starting

    its the wireless mouse causing your problem. you need to install the microsoft hid driver..

    doing windows update found 27 updates. the hid driver was among them. 25 installed and 2 were not needed. thanks to all who helped.

    once the hid gets installed you reboot you should be set.. glad we could all help

    i didnt need to reboot. i wasnt prompted to apparently.

    okay.. i just said to reboot because sometimes the hid update doesnt take effect till you do. did it fix the issue??
