100% of 10% is still 10%. You did your calculations wrong.

download CPU-Z and check the CPU core speed because that is what that setting restricts

800 or 1600 is the lowest, depending on the processor. I think the P8600 is supposed to go down to 800 because of superLFM

edit: for me, CPU-z says 1600MHz, 0.925V and Everest says 0.925V, 798MHz.. CPU-Z isn't picking up the fact that the FSB is cut in half, so it's probably actually 1600/2 -> 800

Your computer has hardware level or is/was attacked by malware or virus.

Everest has no drivers, you can run it from a USB flash memory stick if you wanted. What you are seeing is not normal. It is like if your computer freezes because open notepad... something is really not right. You should definitively check that out. Remember that once infected with a virus, the damaged done is done, Anti-virus don't fix files, only removes the virus. The best solution is to set your system to go back in time before such damage occurred, but in your case as you have no idea when it occurred, I suggest a full system re-install.

If you wanna downclock, use a program like CPUGenie (or RMClock if it works on your CPU, doesnt really on mine (P8400) The default Windows thing doesnt work very well to my experience.

Different profiles.. It even does nice support for undervolting which also saves power and makes your laptop cooler..

The Windows 7 one is a lot better. It actually throttles properly in Power saver.

I dont know its been a while since i have done downclocking.. It makes my PC freeze.. I use CPUGenie to keep the clock at absolute max to avoid this.

What exactly were you downclocking, and with what program? Your computer might have some serious issues if it is freezing at standard voltages..

My thoughts exactly. Is it 100% of CPU usage or 100% of CPU frequency?
