This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     show desktop icon in taskbar for W7

    it's possible to add show desktop to taskbar same as in Vista ?

    Win key + D also works for showing and hiding desktop

    no need to make it bigger as it has infinite width and height. you can just go tooo far with the mouse, and always hit it. it could be one pixel and still as simple to hit.

    davepermen is right, but if you really don't want to get used to it being on the right, you can create an icon yourself and place it on the left side of the task bar:

    Open notepad, and add:

    save it as desktop.scf somewhere and drag it to the taskbar or right click and pin it, or move the file to %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    There is at least one utility out there that sets up 'show desktop' for you.

    just to make clear. while it's a nice help to get the old style back, the OP has to be aware that this button will be harder to hit for him than the new one.. :) so getting used to the new place gains him usability.
