so im not that tech savvy, and i recently purchased a laptop which had windows 8 on it. obviously for someone thats never really used anything other then windows 7, i do not like it. im trying to adjust but it just seems like windows 8 has too many features for the small amount of ram i have (4gb) and its being slowed down by this. should i just remove windows 8 or should I try to go through and delete bloatware?

TBH, if it is just the slowdown you are concerned with then get rid of the bloatware. Win 8 should be just as fast as Win7 so the OS should not be an issue. Unless you have Win 8 Pro it will cost to downgrade s this may be a concern as well. Of course an install clean of Win 8 or Win 7 without the bloatware will be pretty fast and nimble OS.

Classic Shell sees 4.3 million downloads since Windows 8 launch - Neowin
for pre-loaded bloatware, give PC decrapifier a try, as recommended by this NBR article and MaximumPC.
If your new laptop has a touch screen, you might want to stick with win8 due to better support and useability. As for linux on a touch screen you would need to do a fair bit of research on getting it to work properly.
simple how to on removing windows 8 and installing windows 7 or linux?
