i don't know what's happening but when i switch the laptop to "sleep" (standby) on vista, it always switches back on by itself. i don't know when but must be after a few hours because everytime i use "sleep" and come back to the laptop after a few hours, i always see it turned on again.

it's the same as when i'm on screen saver. i sometimes see the screen just came on by itself or never goes into screen saver mode.

Must be Vista problems. I had some problem like that back with my XP on my Acer machine - never managed to fix it even after re-install of XP.

It seems sleep in Vista is not yet fine tuned. I noticed that after my computer resmes back from sleep (not on its own, though), my printer driver crashes and i have to reinstall the printer software. I have the HP Photosmart C 6180.

You may also have some kind of "wake on LAN" technology enabled... are you plugged into a network, or on wireless?

Doubt it - it's just connected to my Wi-Fi Internet.

Do you have the setting enabled "Allow remote assistance to access your computer" for diagnostic? Someone might be attempting to access your computer and thus waking it up? I have mine set to disabled.
