i've been having some problems lately with my power button, i've got it set to put the computer to sleep, and i've checked numerous times to make sure that it's set to sleep, but whenever pressed the computer shuts down very quickly. it responds as if i was to hold the power button and force a shutdown. it does the same thing if i select "sleep" from the start menu. it also forces a shutdown if i close the lid. anyone know what could be going on?

When did this happen? Try a restore point or run a virus scan?
cheers ... -
well, i would try a restore point but my computer wont create them, it tells me that there isnt enough room in the recovery partition for a restore point, even when i tell it NOT to backup my music and photos...so i gotta figure that one out. it started doing it not too long after i installed windows 7. i've since deleted 7 beta and the problem persists. i'm wondering if there's anything in the registry or bios that deals with the power buttons and lid functions?
sleep buttons and commands prompting shutdown
