It could be spyware or annyoying agents programs install.
type in msconfig in run, select the "Startup" tab and there you will be able to control what opens when u start up.

    Hope that helps.

in the last two days ive tried a couple of anti spyware softwares but my problem is still not solved.

i have used windows defender, must say its absolute crapp !!! also used adaware which i found decent and now im using spybot which seems to be the best amongst these three. it detects spyware now and then but i still have a problem.

try to defrag your HD and also clean your registry.

you can use perfect disk for defragmentation and registry mechanic for cleaning your registry.

Avast and Avg are good freebies, but Norton Kapersky is generally rated for detection (remember that they can use a lot of resources)

Well, I suppose. I used Kaspersky once, but the firewall wasn't that good. I'd personally recommend Zone Alarm 7, which includes the ZA firewall and Kaspersky’s antivirus engines.

Imo best thing is to format you hard drive, divide it on partitions, install OS and necessary programs on one partition and make an image (ghost, acronic etc). Then you can keep all your data on other partition(s), and every time you suspect a virus/system slow etc - just format your system partition and apply image - your system is new again. Takes 15 min and something that is 100%.
