i want to create an image using windows backup to my WD external drive. but windows shows me that the drive is corrupted even though i can access everything still on that drive.
I tried using chkdsk but it returns me no errors and nothing fixed.
Also used the Error-Checking tool but as soon as i click on "start" to start the check, the check window just vanishes.
Tried defragment from windows but it does not show the disk drive to select...
Is there any efficient software for windows 7 that can actually repair the error on my external hdd?
thanks

First, take out everything you wish to save. Run a hdd check, such as Seagate's tool since it works on other brands too. You could also check with Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring your drive. If you encounter any errors, have your drive warranty replaced, if it's out of warranty buy a new one.
If those softwares do not see any issues, try deleting all partitions on that drive and recreate them because the second option is just software errors on the drive. Extremely rare though. -
Recuva - Download
this saved all my movies on my external!!!!!!! Give this a shot
