Ok, I am totally lost. My wife's computer recently stopped playing anything with sound. Evey movie or mp3 she plays, skips. It even skips when windows starts up and shutsdown!! I just put in a gig of ram, so she should be able to run everything no problem. She has Norton, and a scan says there are no viruses. When movies skip, both the sound AND the picture skip. Everything else seems to be just sound. She has an Acer 2300 if that helps. I hope somebody can help, because she has only had the computer for about a month or 2, and she needs it for school. She is getting upset, and I can't figure anything out. Thanks

Is it happening only when the computer is running from the optical drive? Or is it when you also do video streaming from the internet or MP3s on the hard drive?

Could be that the Laser lens is dirty or scratched.

Well, it was happening all the time. However, I deleted some crap, and did a system restore, and now everything is working again. Thanks anyway though
