I downloaded sp3 and have been using it for months. I noticed no difference in speed or stability from sp2. I say go for it. May I ask, what game is this? Im surprised a game would require that.

.. initial reports of problems ..?

first: anything has some problems at start. that doesn't mean anything.
second: the net always creates huge paranoya around problems, just don't care.

it's a service pack, it got deployed to millions of users. it's there to fix problems. go get it. you would have noticed it in the news, if it would have been a problem for millions of users at the same day worldwide.

The only "significant" problems that were seen with SP3 were USB issues. If, after installing SP3, you find that your mouse/keyboard/peripherals stop working or XP can't detect the USB controller, you can bet that it is SP3 at work. I wouldn't expect it to happen, but a friend of mine did encounter such difficulties.
