    is it possible for someone to retrieve a document that was on a printer spool?

    sure, admin can do it - and it depends on how one sets up a print spooler

    if the printer was connected to my laptop when it was printing my doc but it was initially connected to another computer, will they still be able to retrieve it?

    again, it depends on where the spooler was/is being set up. physical connect of the printer has no influence on the stored printer files none whatsoever
