Ok so I have a customized hp dv6500se 64 bit vista home premium. Starting last night, whenever I try to go into standby either from clicking the orb or selecting it from the drop-down list, my monitor turns off and nothing else happens. all of the leds stay on and if i move the mouse the screen comes back up.
Hibernation and shutdown work fine tho. I checked the power/battery settings and they all seem fine.
Could I have a messed up reg key or something similar?
The only thing that I have down recently is install cod4 which is amazing by the way

mattireland It used to be the iLand..
You need to go into the system power settings (right click on desktop and select properties and then select the appropriate tab) and then under the standby section make sure it turns off monitor, hard disks and anything else you want. I'm currently on Mac so am giving you this information from memory so it may be slightly inaccurate but if your any good at clicking buttons it will give you the general idea of what you need to do.

Last week I had installed tweak vi which is a really good system tweaking program for vista. I tried restoring the default settings of the program and it fixed my standby prob. Thanks for the suggestions
standby only turns off screen
