i have been running mac osx for a few days, and i completely forgot the useful "windows - start - run" entries. all of them.

i had to look up msconfig and regedit.

there is one more that i forgot, but basically it opens up a window and displays system information, but its not msinfo32, is like, something else. it starts with a d i think? something like that. its frying my BRAIN ARGHH.

    can anyone help me?!??!

lol the only command I know is msconfig. What I don't get it, is there one for solitaire? Not spidey solitaire, although both have their own little charms

Rep this gentleman, he deserves it :). A lot of these also work in Vista, btw, and they are huge timesavers.

...you can use the run dialog to run ANY program on your computer. For solitaire, I think the executable is called "sol.exe", so just type in "sol" at the start->run prompt and it will work.

There's a variable on your computer called your PATH. It contains paths to all of your common executables. It includes things like c:\Windows\system32 (which is where I believe sol.exe lives), and c:\Windows, etc. So when you type in "msconfig", the computer looks for a program named msconfig.com, msconfig.exe or msconfig.bat (in that order) in every directory in the path.

If you want to mess with someone, make a copy of dxdiag.exe and name it msconfig.com ;) They'll likely not know why it starts the wrong program.
