Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Windows 7 Upgrade Option
    Program.

I would like to inform you that you will receive the Full Version DVD
once the product releases come October 22nd.
You can choose to do an upgrade installation. All system settings will
be transferred from Windows Vista into Windows 7 (Desktop Design,
Software installed, Email accounts configured). However, you should do a
complete backup of all files before performing the upgrade installation.

If you have any further questions please get in touch with us and we
will be happy to assist you in any way we can.

    Regards,

a full version DVD? Im just curious as my sager/midern came with the

Yes, but this only applies to those with the upgrade coupon. What it doesn't specify is for those who bought the upgrade via the special promotional price.

That might also be the full edition but will get linked to the original OS product key.

Right, that's all I was stating. I only put down what the rep told me for a "post june 26 pc purchase". The "special promo price" part I couldn't tell you, and I'd be a liar if i tried to pull anything out of my bum.

So buying a PC now will net you the Full version of Windows 7 as opposed to the Upgrade version? That's surprising but awesome. If that's the case then customers won’t have to put up with bloatware anymore as they can now do a proper clean install.

I'm guessing here that the disk won't be the "full version" as in " retail full version" which you can move from hardware to hardware, but rather an OEM-type disk/key, which is still way better than the Upgrade even though it's tied to that one hardware.

Let's hope that OEMs don't get involved in this process as I'm sure they'll find a way to include a bunch of trialware and other things on that disk.

It depends on the company. DELL probably will for all its systems except the AW and business lines. I use sager-midern, and even the original install was clean, with only the needed drivers to get everything to work. I think it'll be an OEM (this disk only works with this computer) disk, but it's much much better than having an upgrade disk only. It's not a complete win, but it's a better one than having to install vista and then 7 every time we want to reformat. I suspect that the bloatware will come down to who the disc is for, although from what i've noticed, many reinstall discs, even from DELL and the like are clean... it's only the initial installation that has the bloat on it.

Absolutely. This is a great move by MSFT. It doesn't affect me (I only have access to full-retail versions - through TechNet) but I get a lot of complaints about Upgrade disks and OEM disks that are full of you know what.

This would have been perfect if MSFT would cut out OEMs completely from this process and give all consumers a clean Windows install disk. But as it stands, it's still a very good move. :)

I'm glad to hear it's a full version DVD and not just an Upgrade disc.

    Great find.
