so i have a movie on my desktop: Brick.avi
i double click it and this should play in WMP. and it does. i can hear it playing, at least. problem is, WMP is nowhere to be seen, not even hidden away in the tray.
if i then go to the programs menu and click on WMP the movie shows up and continues playing, but still
any ideas?

and this happens with all WMP-default files. just tested an mp3. sure, it plays, but where is WMP??
-
this wasn't happening yesterday!

Don't triple post. Give people time to respond.
Anyway, try rebooting and see if that works. Or, open WMP first, then open a file and see what happens. -
Check Task Manager under Process for wmplayer.exe. I used to have problems with WMP not completely closing after I clicked the X (music or video kept playing). Finally, the problem was a plugin (MiniLyrics) that kept it alive.
strange problem with WMP in vista
