so i have a movie on my desktop: Brick.avi

i double click it and this should play in WMP. and it does. i can hear it playing, at least. problem is, WMP is nowhere to be seen, not even hidden away in the tray.
if i then go to the programs menu and click on WMP the movie shows up and continues playing, but still

    any ideas?

Don't triple post. Give people time to respond.

Anyway, try rebooting and see if that works. Or, open WMP first, then open a file and see what happens.

Check Task Manager under Process for wmplayer.exe. I used to have problems with WMP not completely closing after I clicked the X (music or video kept playing). Finally, the problem was a plugin (MiniLyrics) that kept it alive.
