    stuck black screen at shut down

    when i try to shut down windows it gets stuck at a black screen and never shuts down (laptop power is never turned off). i have to manually hold the power button to shut completely off.
    any ideas of the problem? :confused:

    One possible cause is some background running process or even LAN properties not allowing the comp to complete shut down.

    but isn't windows supposed to shut down all the background processes when shutting down the computer?
    do you know which LAN properties should I change to prevent windows from shutting down?

    Review your NIC device properties making sure that "wake up on LAN" (allow this device to wake up computer) is being checked off.

    someone else had this problem and i pointed them in the direction of the gadget side bar download page with a sleep/turn off/hibernate button and some how this worked for him.worth a go its free. link location > HERE
