I am currently trying to hunt down a vista disc so I can make a clean install on my thinkpad. Now I have already made backup discs to get me to factory defaults if I mess something up. Now my question is does windows have anything where after I do my clean install I can make backup discs at that point, so if I ever need another clean install I dont have to hunt down discs again? I have vista ultimate if that matters.

Yep control panel>Back up and restore center>Back up computer>one or more DVDs. This will back up your entire computer so if you just have Vista installed and nothing else it will just put Vista on the disk. Or you can do a clean install of Vista install all the updates and drivers, necessary programs and back everything up so if you need to start again you don't need to hunt everything own and install it all again.

Thank you very much. I will probably make one copy of the clean install, and then do another after I have all the drivers working. Cause knowing me I might mess up the drivers a few times before they work :p Plus it is not like blank discs are expensive anymore. Thanks again. Once I finally get my hands on a vista disc I will be set.

    Not a problem. ;)

Just out of curiosity are you going to install the 32 or 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate?

I am thinking the 32 bit version of vista. I only got 3 gigs of ram so I see no need in going to 64... unless I am missing something.
