Very odd -
Been noticing higher than usual CPU utilization by svchost.exe (NETWORK SERVICE) via task manager. Is this normal?

Yes it's pefectly normal.

Haha, if you're running Vista, there's really no reason to be surprised. But for XP, that's a different story...

It's normal, though you could disable some services from starting up during boot
