I was wondering why 80gb of my hdd was taken after installing my usual suite of programs when it should only take less than 20.
i found out this morning when i was doing a virus scan, norton internet security scanned the above mentioned folder for about 4 hours and it's still not finished. after checking the folder it seems there is over 50+gb of data in it, i didnt bother to let it finish figure our exactly how much.
is this is a virus or just crappy norton internet security?

I wouldn't recommend Norton anything to anyone (Symantec AntiVirus is OK, but not Norton), as it is commonly known as Bloatware. Chances are it might be some weird backup bloatware that came with your Norton suite that's eating the HD.

NIS 2008 is not that bad, BTW. Previous versions of Norton are.

well. i just uninstalled norton and freed up 60gb of hdd space. not sure if its 2008, i got it with my vostro which just arrived.
do you guys think this is because i installed the programs when norton was already on the computer? Maybe it wont happen if i install norton after?
symantec/programdata/subeng = 50gb+?
