My computer (Thinkpad x220) is having annoying slow loading problem and the realNetworks program keeps giving a popup asking for permission to load. I ran msconfig trying to disable unnecessary programs that are running. I disabled most of the startup programs. Under the tab "Services", there are many running. Which of them definitely can not be disabled? I want to disable as many as possible. Thanks. (Even if the slow loading is not caused by these, I still would like to disable the unnecessary services and startups.)
    P.S. It's Windows 7.

Well, a good bit of them are required just to run the computer, so I certainly wouldn't disable *all* of the services. Though which ones are absolutely important, I can't remember off the top of my head.

The machine will become unusable. You may not even be able to login anymore. Also note that issues with slow startup are never caused by native Windows services, and that, as a general rule, disabling native services has no tangible benefits, as you have seen. Your problems lie elsewhere.

Oh man, thanks for telling me! Glad I didn't go ahead to disable too many! Now I guess the slow loading may be caused by some website's ad videos.

Have a look at Blackviper.com, it's the holy grail of disabling windows services:

    Blackviper Service Configurations

also i recommend ccleaner (portable) for removing startup programs, rather than just msconfig.
