There are so many processes running which I haven't even heard the names of. I CBF to search for them and find out whether they are viruses or not, because that's your job.

As for "FF" using so much memory, it's because it's a second grade, wannabe, also-ran browser. Use a real browser, like Opera. And if you don't like it, use IE 8.

Windows can have that many processes running. Such you use HijackThis and post a log to one of the major antispyware forums for further analysis

    200mb really isn't much.

Neither is 46 processes - if they're actually useful (and the majority of them probably are), then it shouldn't really be a concern. I mean, are you really at a point where you're running out of memory or CPU power if you have a 2ghz C2D and 4GB RAM?

If you need the addon installed on firefox, but with the addon, it makes firefox slow and memory hogging, doesn't it defeat the point of FF being fast and light?

I suggest you go to the Sysinternals site and get Process Explorer. It will display the same info you get in task manager plus a lot more detail like where each of those processes was loaded from and how it was loaded. This often times helps you to determine what a process REALLY is as the names are often USELESS in that regard.

Hell, I'm at 66 processes and my laptop is brand new :p
But I have rmclock and other stuff running.
My firefox takes about 130 000k, and that's with 2-3 addons and a theme. Yours must be packed lol
You can look into the xp tweaks page, I'm sure there is a topic on cleaning your processes. (Though yours aren't really bad)

Not really. Addons don't significantly increase RAM usage; more than likely it's Firefox failing to plug its memory leaks. With Firefox, you should restart it every once in a while to lower its memory usage.
