in setting up my dell vostro 1500, i must have accidentally uninstalled something along the way. the "sounds and audio devices" icon most windows systems is missing. i have a shortcut to the same application on my desktop, and it has a radio button that says "place volume icon in the task bar." but when i click this, i get an error message that says the volume control program has not been installed.

short of going through the extreme hassle of reformatting, is there any way or any where i can recover/download the missing program?

go to device manager and uninstall the driver for your sound and let windows install it
