I asked IBM service rep to upgrade to VIsta. He told me that the lappie have to stay for three days at SC. I said i cant wait that long and finally he told me to upgrade by myself. He gave me OEM CD pack. I can activate the windows normally.

It would violate the EULA if you if it w/ a different manufacture than the one specified on the OEM, but it will nonetheless work fine on any computer you install it one

well im thinking of buying it from ebuyer so its a generic OEM for system builders not for a specific manufacturer so hopefully that doesn't violate the EULA, unless using it on a notebook and not actually "building" a system counts of course :)

Yes, as long as you have a legitimate product key.

Not necessarily. You are right if one were to buy a notebook preloaded with Vista and use the included CD to install Vista on another notebook, but purchasing an OEM edition of Vista separately at a lower cost is perfectly legal.

Yes. Go ahead and save yourself some money...but remember, there won't be any free tech support through Microsoft.
