i use the laptop only for p2p software, microsoft office, nero for burning music, movies etc.,watch movies, music, and internet surfing and msn.
and playing maybe some games.and the acer erecovery thats it.
i use wirelless internet connection. i dont use printers or fax.

can somebody maybe tell me what of acer aspire software i can uninstall??

and what of windows vista services i can uncheck or disable etc. like windows sidebar for example.

I've got a 5920 and basically i've deleted all of the acer software, i find no use for it whatsoever. The only program that may be worth keeping is the backup software. The only reason i no longer have it is i have removed my recovery partition as i have windows hp on disc so if i need to reinstall i use this. All of the things that the empowering software does, can usually be done in wondows anyway. All the games acer provided i removed, messaging software (orion i think but maybe wrong). I kept launch manager for some of the buttons.

There is a good topic (link below) about tweaks and tips, this should help you out aswell with startup stuff and services etc:

I think you need to keep the framework, also, can't say i ever found a use for the acergrid and mobility, but they were never on my notebook long!

Edit: If your using nero, i guess you would have no need for the nti cd and dvd maker, so that can go aswell. If you do this then one of the buttons (the round record one) will be useless. There is a modded synaptics driver that will let you change the function of these buttons:

I reckon nero is better. I don't personally use nero as I just don't like all of the stuff that comes with it, but if i had to use one it would be nero.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, burn your recovery discs.
That way, you can always go back to a factory default if worst comes to worst.
And if you're given the option to burn a Utilities & Drivers disc, do that too.
