I am trying to copy my dvd's to my computer(so don't need the disc's) by running them throught dvd decryptor and then convert them to with nero express to an mpg file.

the problem occurs when I add the files to the project(nero) i get the message nero has dectected some consitance in the VOB files and askes if i want to murge them.

I say 'yes' and it will start copying for about 30 minutes or so then a message comes up saying D:\media is full and the procces was aborted. all that i am doing to add into the progect, i have not told it to 'finish movie'.

    my Hard Drive
    4200rpm, fat32, two 26 gb partitions(17.6 gb free on d:\)

I have told it to write(in configuration) everthing except picture files to write to d:\ (I am not doing any photo stuff so that should not matter)

i tried just adding one video_et and the program works really well, is my hard drive really to small or is fat32 or what am I doing wrong got any tips????
    anyone???

Why are you using FAT32 as your file system?

it was default with the computer, is that the problem?

    Acer Aspire 3503
    intel Celeron M 1.5ghz
60gb hdd 3 partitions, two 26 gb, one 2 gb for recovery.
    512mb ram

if any of those specs make a diffrence.

i know this not the idea machine for this but if i need a new hdd drive that is not a big deal, but i would like to know before i buy a new one....

also if fat32 is the problem, is there a way to convert just the d:\ to ntsf but not c:\(recovery stuff wanted) also will i lose that data on my d drive???

i read a thread on this the other day and will look for it... and will change the file system if need be...

so when i convert i want the erecovery to work properly so i want to leave the fat32 on the bootable drive (i have head of issues with e-recovery when the file system is changed)

so if i enter convert d: fs: ntsf it will only do d not c even when they are the same disk drive just partioned.

The reason why you want to convert to NTFS is that FAT32 has a limit on maximum filesize for a single file of 2GB.

And yes, convert will only act upon the partition you've selected (D: in this case).

    Actually, it's a 4GB limit.

i have been converting loads of DVDs lately. I know it's not hte fix you are looking for but I would recommend Fair Use Wizard as it converts and compresses the DVDs (on average to about 700mb) without having to change programme. It takes about 90mins-2hours to convert the dvd but it has loads of features. Unfortunately it only converts to avi (divx/xvid) but i have so far found it satisfactory.

You'll still need to convert your HD to NTFS though to solve your current problem.

Whoops, I stand corrected... don't know why I was thinking it was 2GB rather than 4GB (that is, 2^32-1 bytes).
